Join the www.itbhu.org team
ITBHU.org Editor @ 01:23 PM ITBHU.org is hosted on a dedicated server, whose services have been donated by one of our own alumni. The site is maintained by a group of volunteers. Major enhancements and day to day running of the server have been out sourced.

This effort requires a volunteer to look at the issues that the users of the ITBHU.org face and come up with solutions that the consultants can implement. Some programming is done by the volunteers also. As the work increases the volunteers are finding it difficult to handle the services being offered on the website.

We are looking for volunteers the following.

  • Content Management: The volunteers would be given independent charge of a section and they would have to gather the content from multiple channels and publish it. The sections that currently require volunteers are
    • From the Insitute: This section captures the events and news at IT and is monthly colated on a monthly basis in the news magazine - The ITBHU Chronicle
    • Career Forum: There are multiple job postings that we all come across we need people to take care of collating all the information online.
  • Module Leads: These volunteers would be responsible for defining and managing the projects that we plan to take up. The volunteers would be required to evaluate existing open source softwares that could be used to handle the requirements and thus should have some idea of html / css / php etc. or should be willing to put in the effort to learn them.

The list of pending projects are

    • Reunion module: This module will make it easy to track and manage the organisation of annual reunions that are held in the Institute and also the multiple reunions that are organised by the various chapters.
    • Jobs portal: Many senior alumni have been asking us to build a system where they post jobs for other IT BHU alumni. We wish to take this up soon.

This portal will allow registered users to publish jobs and others to respond to it.

    • Higher Studies Portal: Many students pursue their higher studies from various schools in India and abroad. We wish to build a mechanism to capture the information about their application process and also about the schools they are (or already have) attended.
So if you are interested just go ahead and send that email.

We are waiting to hear from you.

Reunion needs people
ITBHU.org Editor @ 01:22 PM

We at ITBHU.org along with people in the Institute wish to make alumni reunions a recurring event that is planned and executed with fineess. This year is the first attempt at that. We are building a team that would not only get the reunion organised this year but would also help in building processes that would make holding reunions easier.

We are looking for people who can take up the following tasks .. and more ..

  1. Gathering information about all alumni of the participating years [1955,65,75,80,85 and 95 for the reunion of 2005]

  2. Reaching out to alumni and asking them to register for the reunion

  3. Local coordination and planning in Banaras for transportation and accommodation of the attendees etc.

  4. Planning the activities to be held during the reunion [Tanga rides from Lanka Gate to Vishwanath Temple?]

  5. Managing the Reunion Section to provide all the information that the alumni would like to have.

  6. Building a alumni reunion module on www.itbhu.org which would make the coordination effort more easy

We feel that this will be one of the major milestones in the ITBHU alumni movement, since the returning alumni will bring insight from their various backgrounds and guide the current students and administration to be better prepared for the changes in this world.

So, if you want to be a part of this mega endeavor, sent that email!

Thanks
The ITBHU.org Team

We need Project Volunteers
ITBHU.org Editor @ 01:20 PM

At ITBHU.org, we are constantly launching and executing projects to make the lives of the students, staff and alumni of our dear alma mater better.

For a list of projects, please visit the Projects Section of the website.

Since all of us have professional lives also, we are already falling short of volunteers to manage our projects, and would love the help you can give by committing a small amount of your free time to these projects.

So if you want to contribute in our projects with your time, please send that email.

Thanks
The ITBHU.org Team.

Institute Liaisoning Effort
ITBHU.org Editor @ 01:13 PM

ITBHU.org volunteers are the bridge between various populations, including the faculty and students at the institute and the large alumni body.

Our aim is to provide information and help to all parties involved, be it an alumnus/alumna looking for information regarding transcripts, a student looking for a project idea with the help of alumni, or a faculty member looking for alumni in a certain industry for collaboration. The list is truly endless.

The institute has recently created a dedicated alumni cell for institute-alumni interaction and we are closely working with them as it takes shape.

We are finding it difficult to liasion with specific departments. Once in a while we get to know about some company which would like to give projects to a department or someone old alumni would like to give a talk. We need people who can interface with people from their department and with us so that we can make our news / information reach the faculty members and the students.

So, if you want to help out with maintaining the bridges we have built, and open newer channels of communication, go ahead and send that email.
