(Sept 13, 2003: Individual sites for chapter blogs already exist. There is some amount of work involved in copying over the templates. A new chapter owner emails the editor to create the desired website in the blog format. The editor creates the blog. One of the volunteers helps set the templates so the new chapter blog has the same look and feel as other sites. They also give the simple trackback ping URL the new chapter can use to have their new entires displayed on the main site).
It would be cool to give chatpers an expandable way to build up the itbhu.org stylesheet and templates.
Give them a basic stylesheet imported from the main itbhu.org style and allowing a chapter to overlay their own stylesheet as well as specify their logo and background gif's at well known URL locations the top stylesheet refers to.
Make available templates for index, category and entry that supports
simple chapter sites like http://www.itbhu.org/chapters/dept/cse/ -- while chapter sites using this will be blogified giving the advantage of quick launch, basic conformity of look/feel and links, it will also have an "unbloggish" look and feel.
With conventions for categories like "events" and "chapter news" ping back to update the main page, the chapter is lively incorporated in the main site with indirect ability to get their message out to all alumni.
