To get your transcripts please send an application to the Office of the Controller of Examinations either by post, FAX or email along with a payment of Rs. 220/- for one copy and Rs. 50/- for each additional copy, through a Bank Draft /Cheque drawn in favour of Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University. The application should be addressed to Controller of Examinations and should contain

Why choose IT-BHU?
(1) Your stay in BHU campus gives you an opportunity to interact with people from different faculties (Management, Science, Medical, etc). BHU is known for interdisciplinary research, which is creating new opportunities in upcoming applications. For example, the most exciting work being done by the computer scientists today is in bioinformatics and GIS, which require knowledge of biology and geography,respectively. Similarly, most exciting work being done by the electronics engineers today is happening in biomedical engineering, which also requires the knowledge of biology and medical sciences. People considering a career in management can do projects at the faculty of management sciences.
(2) Students in IT-BHU come from all over India with all types of backgrounds and cultures. During your stay at IT-BHU, you learn about several beautiful cultures that exist in India. Since most of us eventually end up working in a different parts of India or World after completing our degrees, the learning of other cultures transforms us into human beings who are more receptive to people with varied backgrounds.
(3) For a given all India rank (AIR), choosing between an IIT or IT-BHU is usually a trade-off between the IIT tag and a branch with more rewarding career. For example, the same AIR can get you chemical engineering at an IIT and computer science (CS) or electronics engineering (ECE) at IT-BHU. After completing B.Tech, if you wish to go abroad for higher studies, funding and graduate opportunities are usually higher in CS and ECE due to the growth and size of their respective markets. After completing the graduate studies, job opportunities are also higher in CS and ECE. If you wish to pursue MBA (through CAT/GMAT), IIT tag may increase your admission chances to some extent. However, the lack of IIT tag can be compensated by other qualities such as leadership, management skills, extracurricular activities and inter-personal skills that are integral part of education and life at IT-BHU. Morever, after completing the MBA, many engineers are employed by software/hardware companies. In that situation, having a B.Tech. degree in CSE or ECE gives you solid foundation for sustainable progress in these companies.
(4) In IT-BHU, students in the same branch stay together throughout their four years of B.Tech. It promotes constructive competition and friendship among the students. They learn the value of teamwork with their colleages that helps them later in their careers when they work on big projects as a team. In addition, students also learn management skills when they manage their private messes.
Some facts to consider:
(1) IT-BHU alumni are raising funds to provide Wifi – 802.11g access with Internet connectivity to the IT-BHU hostels. Approximate budget of this project is Rs. 22 Lacs. For more information on the alumni funded projects, please visit: http://www.itbhu.org/projects/
(2) IT-BHU is among the seven engineering institutes selected by the S. K. Joshi Committee for upgrading the deserving institutes to IITs. The government has decided to give each of these institutes a one-time grant of Rs 100 crore for upgradation of facilities and infrastructure. IT-BHU has the highest percentage (80%) of faculty members with PhD qualification among these seven institutes. IITs are required to have a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:10 or better. With
240-strong faculty, IT-BHU meets the criterion of 1:10 ratio. IT-BHU admits students through IIT-JEE since 1972.
(3) BHU Campus: The main BHU campus is 1300 acres and includes faculty housing and student hostels. The university comprises 3 Institutes, 14 Faculties, 124 Departments, 4 Inter-displinary Centers, a constituent college for women and 3 constituent schools. It has 6 centres of Advanced Studies, 10 Departments under Special Assistance Programme and a large number of specialized Research Centers. The university teaches a vast range of subjects pertaining to all branches of humanities, social science, technology, medicine ,science, fine arts and performing arts.
(4) IT-BHU is consistently ranked among the top ten technology schools in India. India Today 2006 rankings placed ITBHU at #9 in the engineering colleges in India. In May 2005, a survey of engineering schools by Dataquest-IDC-NASSCOM ranked IT-BHU at Number 5 overall, and at Number 1 in the development of "Intellectual Capital". Many of its departments come under the distinguished category of "Centre Of Advanced Studies", a distinction awarded by India's University Grants Commission. In August 2003, the World Bank carried out a survey of leading technical colleges in India. According to their report, IT-BHU
was ranked second in research, just behind the top ranked Indian Institute of Science. Other studies have been consistent. One published in the journal Current Sciences, on the publication output of engineering schools, ranks IT-BHU third and the IISc first.
