2nd Alumni meet, Bangalore Chapter (21st Aug, 04)

"Administrative Office" was the place you had to start from, with our Assistant Registrar's being Anurag Dubey(EE 98) & Rahul(EE 98). Does that confuse you? Well this was not the registration for 1st Year students but for the IT-BHU Alumni Meet, Bangalore chapter held at Indranagar Club on 21st August'04. This was the second in series, with the 1st one having been organized on 8th Nov'03, so we succeeded in meeting again within an year. It was 1900 Hrs & the show began, this time on registration the alumni received a lapel pin with the IT logo & a IT BHU Alumni Association card (Photographs attached).

After a lot of problems we were able to put up a few posters & banners to make the whole area more lively. Starting with posters of A.O. to Limdi corner, D.G. corner or our own Mochu nobody was left, some captured latest news from the Institute along with information on new projects of KashiUtkarsh (the social movement of ITBHU). The show started with a slide show which rejuvinated the memories of IT as well as Varanasi with a glass of Thandai in our hands. The Buzz in the hall was deepening & you could see lots of familiar as well as new faces around. In all 105 people gathered, starting from as early as 1954 we had two generations sitting in the hall.

This time apart from the News from the Institute & the Alumni contributions we had a small cultural program presented by the team consisting of: Anant Mathur(Civil 01), Sushant Sharma(Mech 02), Sirish(Chem 02), Siddhartha Dubey(Chem 03) & Amulya Tayal(Mech 03).

Starting with the Kulgeet, Deepesh(ECE 98) gave an overview of the Alumni association Bangalore chapter followed by memoirs by Mr Maini (Class of 1954) & Prof. V.V.Chalum(Director 1988). After this Keerty(CSE 04) took over and steered our cultural team who took us back to the old campus days. The 1st round included:
- "Yaaron Dosti Badi hi ajeeb hai..."
- "Ramaiya Vasta vaiya...."--Instrumental ( Mouth Organ)
- "Toota toota ek Parinda.."

We had a presentation by Anshuman(EEE 98) on "News from the Institute" & "Alumni Contributions" followed by a Quiz for all. The questions were really simple(e.g. name the girls of your batch your senior batch),the crowd was divided into five groups upto 1985, 1986-1995, 1996-2000 & 2001 onwards. To help all solve the questions we had our band playing: "Kuch tum socho....Kuch hum sochein...".

Other distnguished guests like Mr Chandramouli (Class of 68) also shared there memories with Mr Ashok Saxena (Class of 68) who joined our band & sang "Kabhi-kabhi mere dil mai...". Any gathering in the Institute cannot end without "Purani Jeans" which was the next performance, the crowd also joined and one could also hear "Once More" naaras. Finally came the IT Anthem the song which gives all an adrenalin shoot, our all time favorite "Pyar hamein kis mode pe le aaya...".

With this all proceeded for food at the Limdi, D.G corner or apna Mochu. Till now the place had a different look you could see people clustered together here and there enjoying each moment with a lot of old memories refreshed & everybody recharged. We all were taken back to Lanka where all of us had a paan .. and thus ended the day with some old memories and lots of new acquaintences.

We all wished to meet again soon and hoped to work together for getting the alumni together and helping the our dear Alma Matar.

That's like a dream re-union of ITians. I feel like getting a job in Bangalore :-). Well written Deepesh. Congrats to the organizers for arranging this meet.
