Alumni Funds Details

We are using the bank account for PRAYAS to collect donations from the ECE alumni. The account is in State Bank of India (Bangalore), and is currently being managed by some of the IT-BHU alumni based in Bangalore. PRAYAS is a registered charitable trust in India, hence there are no tax implications on the outstanding amount in the bank. The donations can be made in Indian rupees, US dollars or any other currency.

The PRAYAS account is opened to collect donations from the IT-BHU alumni and develope better infrastructure in the Institute. The first initiative taken by PRAYAS is the Library Automation Project, which aims at automating the access to IT Library including the computerized searchable catalog and barcode scanners. PRAYAS trustees have decided to allow other IT-BHU alumni chapters (such as the ECE chapter) to use the account for chapter specific activities. Currently, Amit Mahajan from ECE-99 batch has volunteered to be the representative of the ECE chapter for PRAYAS. Amit keeps track of the amount donated by the IT-BHU ECE alumni. To maintain the accoutability, only three people from PRAYAS trustees are authorized to write a cheque from the account. Amit also attends the PRAYAS meetings and coordinates with them. He is located in Bangalore, hence the coordination is convenient for both PRAYAS people and ECE chapter. We will also post all the donations and expenses on the website to maintain transparency.
