D S Venkateswarlu


D S Venkateswarlu was born in 1940. He received the B.E. degree in telecommunication engineering in 1960, the M.E. degree in electrical communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1962, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Southampton, U.K. From 1963 to 1967, he was a Commonwealth Scholar at the Department of Electronics, University of Southampton, and worked in the area of gas laser. He worked at the National Physics Laboratory, New Delhi, Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani, and Solid State Physical Laboratory, Delhi, before joining Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore, in 1968, where his specialization was in the area of development and production of microwave tubes. Through Bharat Electronics, he visited M/S Philips, The Netherlands, and M/S Mullords, U.K., extensively. While at Bharat Electronics, he contributed to the successful development and production of several high-power magnetrons and dispenser cathodes. He has been a Professor with the Department of Electronics Engineering, Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, since 1982. He is credited with more than 50 publications. His research interests include high emission density cathodes, development of high power microwave tubes, and computer aided design.
