The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced, on 30th Sept. 2004, the appointment of Dr. Pushkar Apte as Vice President of Technology Programs.
Dr. Apte received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University in Materials Science and Electrical Engineering, and his Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi, India.

The high phosphorous content was a result of the unique iron-making process practiced by ancient Indians, he said.
