Announcing the launch of the registration module
ITBHU.org Editor @ 03:28 AM
The ITBHU community has for a long time felt the need of a comprehensive database of alumni. ITBHU.org has been working towards this. With generous contribution from some alumni, we have outsourced the implementation of the registration module.
These facilities are available to the alumni and students of ITBHU and erstwhile
colleges of BENCO, MINMET and TECHNO. We have an authorization mechanism
in place wherein a user can avail the above stated facilities only if he
/ she is authorized by the authorizer. Currently we have only two people
working as authorizers so when you register it make take some time to authorize
you. As and when more people register we can give authorizing authority to
others so that they can authorize people of their batch.
To register please click
here.
In case of any difficulty please send a mail to
admin@itbhu.org and the team will get
back to you. Send a mail to us at
admin@itbhu.org
if you are interested in volunteering for this effort.
Publishing your information
Alumni can provide contact information, details about their education and
family and can also post their resume. In addition to posting this information
they can choose which section they want to be available for the other alumni
to see.
Email id with redirect facility
Every user that registers will be given an email redirect facility with his
/ her email id as
fname.lname@XXXYY.itbhu.org
where ,
- fname is the first name of the person
- lname is the last name
- XXX represents the three letter acronym for the branch
- YY represents the year of graduation
An example email id for a person called Joe Alumni from Computer Science
and Engg. who graduated in '88 would get
joe.alumni@cse88.itbhu.org
If the user enables the redirect facility he / she can redirect the mail
received by itbhu.org to their mail box. So if Joe Alumni had his mail as
joe@yahoo.com the he can set that all mail coming to joe.alumni@cse88.itbhu.org
actually go to joe@yahoo.com.
Please note: this is a mail redirect facility and there is no mail
box associated with it by default. Hence if the redirection is not set the
mails sent to the itbhu.org mailing id will be lost.
Mailing lists
- There are mailing list for each geographical chapter and department
which the alumni can register to.
For example,
bangalore@itbhu.org is
the mailing list for people associated with the Bangalore chapter.
eee@itbhu.org
is the mailing list for alumni / students from
the Electrical Engineering department.
- There are mailing lists for graduation year and class with the format
YYYY@itbhu.org where
YYYY is the year of graduation like 1975
XXXYY@itbhu.org where XXX is the acronym for the
branch and YY is for the year.
Example
2000@itbhu.org
is the mailing list for the class of 2000
cse00@itbhu.org
is the mailing list of CSE - class of 2000
- There is a generic mailing list announcement@itbhu.org which
would be used in future to send out mails about any announcement to be made
by ITBHU.org or the Institute.
Alumni Search Facility
A search system is in place which lets the alumni search the database for
their friends, batch mates etc.
Registration Statistics
This gives us the overall view of who may people have registered. This would
also be a point for alumni to see how far we are from getting all the alumni
registered.
A brief estimate of our goal is
( 50 * 250 ) = 12,500
registrations.
Where 50 is the number of batches we can reach out to and 250 is the the
average class size factoring in that we had smaller classes earlier on in
the history of IT BHU.
The statistics are available per branch / year / chapter
Mail Composer
The system has an inbuilt mail composer which you can use to compose and send emails. The 'from' email id reflected in the mail will be your itbhu.org email id. All the replies to your mail will be sent to your forwarding email address.
Inviting a friend
The registration module lets you send a mail to a friend who you may want
to tell about this registration facility.
Reaching out to alumni
You can send mails to your friends directly from your account.

Kashi Utkarsh - contributing to the society.
ITBHU.org Editor @ 12:04 AM
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I... I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.
- Robert Frost.
Kashi Utkarsh, a student run social organization of the Institute of Technology, has been working for the alleviation of misery, penury and disease in its adopted villages of Leharata and Susuwahi, Varanasi. Some of the activities of the group include improvement of hygienic conditions through counseling. Recently, Kashi Utkarsh has provided financial aid for the operation of leg deformation of Guddu, a boy from Lehartara and brain tumor of Manish , a boy in De hostel mess. It was the result of the generous contribution on the part of IT community that these children are enjoying life as their normal brothers and sisters.
Around two months back,Kashi Utkarsh took up the cause of Pinky, a 6 year old girl of Lehartara Basti who was diagnosed with suffering from congenital heart disease i.e.a hole in the heart. Kashi Utkarsh ,with the aim of giving new life to the child ,started the collection of the required one lakh rupees for the operation. The IT community came forward with wholesome supports, financial and otherwise, for the child?s aid. An appeal was issued to our alumni through internet stating Pinky's cause. Contributions poured in from as far as California ,U S A and in one month collection of above one lakh is made. Then Kashi Utkarsh sought the services of Dr. Shetty at Narayan Hrudayalaya in Bangalore. The hospital known as world class ,is the same where the kid Noor Fatima from Pakistan was cured of her heart ailment. Mr. Anurag Gupta and Mr. Santiago of I.T accompanied Pinky and her parents to Bangalore and got her admitted in the hospital. By the grace of almighty the operation was successful and the whole Kashi Utkarsh team could heave a sigh of relief and happiness. Kashi Utkarsh also takes this opportunity to thank all those who generously contributed for this cause and thus were instrumental in the success of this project.
